Research in Medical Education Conferences

Due to the growing interest of educators and researchers in promoting and sharing innovations in medical education, the Research and Innovations in Medical Education (RIME) Conferences are held monthly. Building on the long standing tradition of interdisciplinary collaboration at the University, this workshop brings together a diverse group of educators and researchers across the University of Chicago's clinical, basic science, and social science departments to share and discuss interesting ongoing innovations and approaches to medical education. This workshop is co-sponsored by the Section of General Internal Medicine, the Center for Health and the Social Sciences (CHeSS), and the Pritzker School of Medicine. Workshops feature both institutional and external educators and researchers whose work is focused on improvements and methods in medical education, including such topics as curriculum development or implementation, competency assessment and evaluation, simulation or observation studies, and policy or ethical dilemmas in medical training.

RIME Conferences are scheduled for the first Thursday of every month and lunch is provided. Individuals interested in presenting work should contact Vineet Arora, Assistant Dean for Curricular Innovation at varora@medicine.bsd.uchicago.edu.

For additional information, please visit the RIME website.

The whole University is incredibly well integrated – you walk out the door of the medical school and you are on the quadrangle with the undergraduates, the graduate students, and the professional students. And you go to workshops and seminars and it’s natural that the person sitting next to you is from a different discipline or a different school. And you learn from each other. This campus makes that easy. —David Meltzer, MD’93, PhD’92 (Economics), Director, MD-PhD Program in Medicine, the Social Sciences, and Aging
