CAMP Application Instructions

We are delighted you have decided to apply for the CAMP program! The CAMP 2008 application deadline is Monday, March 10, 2008. If you have any questions about completing this application, please contact Bernadette Steele, Multicultural Affairs Coordinator via email at bsteele@bsd.uchicago.edu. The link for the online application is at the bottom of this page.

Application Requirements

  1. Submit online application including 2 essays by 11:59pm, CST, March 10, 2008
  2. College transcript postmarked by March 10, 2008
  3. Letter(s) of Evaluation postmarked by March 10, 2008

NOTE: Please do not wait until the last moment to submit your online application. It is impossible to predict the vagaries of Internet service or how one's computer might interfere with submitting the application. Make sure the application is presented professionally, grammatically correct, and without typos.

Essay Questions

A significant part of your application consists of two essays. Please review the goals of CAMP before composing your essays. Each essay may be up to 500 words in length. We suggest that you compose and save your essays in a word processing program such as Microsoft Word prior to filling out the application. Doing so will allow you to easily proof read your essays and use a word count tool to monitor your essays' length. Although you can paste in an essay longer than 500 words, the essay we receive will only be the first 500 words.

The two essay questions are:

  1. What do you hope to gain from participating in CAMP?
  2. What aspect or aspects of diversity would you contribute to the educational component of CAMP?

NOTE: Paper applications will not be accepted. All applications must be submitted using the online application.

Navigating through the Online Application

  1. To move forward through the application, click the "next" button at the bottom of the page. As you do so, the progress bar indicates how much of the application remains to be completed.

    IMPORTANT: You must complete this application during a single session. You will not be allowed to save your entries and return to the application later.
  2. Click on the text box or use the tab key to move within the page
  3. All text boxes require information. If a text box requests information that does not apply to you, enter "N/A" for "not applicable."
  4. If you wish to return to a previous page, use the "back" button at the bottom of the page. Doing so, however, erases whatever information you had entered into the current page.
  5. On the letter of evaluation page, after selecting the option for your letters of evaluation, you will be asked to indicate who is composing your letter(s). Please enter the names of the letter writer(s). Enter N/A into any unused writer identity box. The page will not be complete unless all identity boxes are complete.
  6. Starting on the page entitled, "Submitting Transcripts and Letters of Evaluation," it is recommended that you use the "back" button on the bottom of the page to review your application.
  7. Once you have submitted your online application, you will receive the message "Thank you for completing this application." This completes the online portion of your application. Once your application has been submitted, you cannot make changes to your application.
