Message from Dr. Humphrey

Dear Students, Faculty, and Alumni,

Holly Humphrey

Holly J. Humphrey, MD
Professor of Medicine and
Dean for Medical Education

One of the most important parts of medical education is putting our principles into practice by giving our time and our expertise to those who are most in need. As you will read in the next few pages, Pritzker students are involved and engaged in service to our community in a multitude of ways from caring for underserved patients in free clinics, to providing educational outreach and interventions that foster healthy choices and lives, to nurturing and mentoring the next generation of physicians. Perhaps the aspect of this that gives me the greatest pride is the ownership our students take in organizing, running, and leading so many of our community outreach programs.

In this issue, you will learn a bit more about some of the ways in which you can get involved in serving our community. Such service not only offers a beneficial way to utilize your medical skills and knowledge, it also presents the chance to invest yourself in the school and the community, and to make an impact during your time at the Pritkzer School of Medicine.

I extend my welcome to the incoming class of 2011, and wish you all a successful and fulfilling year in the classroom and lab, as well as on our campus and in our community.

With gratitude,
Holly J. Humphrey
