Conferences & Seminars

Pritzker medical students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of conferences, seminars and lecture series throughout the University community. Below is just a sampling of the many opportunities available to Pritzker students.

Bowman Lecture Series

Sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Bowman Society Lectures Series aims to foster scholarship that is important to the health of minority communities.

Deans' Distinguished Lecture Series

The Deans' Distinguished Lecture series brings acclaimed scholars and educators to the Pritzker campus. These keynote speakers are invited to speak at the school's White Coat Ceremony, Medical Education Day, and quarterly events. Past speakers have included: Jordan Cohen, MD President of the AAMC, David Leach, Executive Director of the ACGME, and Abraham Verghese, MD.

Research in Medical Education Conferences (RIME)

RIME conferences occur the first Thursday of each month. Open to Pritzker students, the RIME conferences workshop brings together a diverse group of educators and researchers across the University of Chicago's clinical, basic science and social science departments to share and discuss interesting ongoing innovations and approaches to medical education.

Program in Medicine, Arts, & Social Sciences

The Program in Medicine, Arts, & Social Sciences is an interdisciplinary seminar open to Pritzker students and University faculty members interested in the social context of medicine. These dinner seminars take place four times throughout the academic year.

UChicago campus

The whole University is incredibly well integrated - you walk out the door of the medical school and you are on the quadrangle with the undergraduates, the graduate students, and the professional students. And you go to workshops and seminars and it's natural that the person sitting next to you is from a different discipline or a different school. And you learn from each other. This campus makes that easy. —David Meltzer, MD'93, PhD'92 (Economics) Director, MD-PhD Program in Medicine, the Social Sciences, and Humanities
