Michael Marcangelo, MD

Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience
Faculty Associate Director of Admissions

As the Faculty Associate Director of Admissions, Dr. Marcangelo works closely with Keme Carter, MD, the Associate Dean for Admissions, on ensuring that Pritzker continues to recruit outstanding applicants from all over the country.

Dr. Marcangelo, in addition to his robust clinical duties, has been an integral part of medical education Pritzker since 2008, when he first joined the faculty. He completed his MD at the University of Illinois-Chicago, and his residency here at the University of Chicago, before completing a one year fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at George Washington University-Inova Fairfax Hospital. Dr. Marcangelo assumed the role of clerkship director for the psychiatry clerkship the year he returned to the University of Chicago as a faculty member, and has been a section leader for psychiatry in CPP&T for nearly as long. Additionally, he has served on both of our Curriculum Committees for a decade, and has dedicated much of his time to other initiatives and interest group leadership. Most impressively, he has been named a “Favorite Faculty” member eight times by our students, and has won the Doroghazi Outstanding Clinical Teaching Award three times, among various other honors. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators.
