Adriana Black, MPH, MAT

Adriana Black (she, her, ella) is a racial justice educator, public health professional, and higher education administrator. She strives to build relationships and assist in the education of students, faculty, and staff on systems of oppression, structural injustices, and power imbalances that can inhibit the flourishing and belonging of community members from non-dominant groups. She currently serves as the Director of Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.

Previously, Adriana worked Tufts University in an inaugural role as an educator for the five health sciences schools in Boston and Grafton, Massachusetts where she created, implemented, delivered, and evaluated anti-oppression trainings. She also previously worked at Boston University School of Public Health in educational administration, research, mentoring, and teaching. Before moving to Boston, Adriana worked in a clinical setting providing medical care to youth as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) for various clinics, clubs, schools, and universities in the Midwest and Spain.

Her research interests lie in community health practice, Latinx immigrant children’s health, mentorship practices for graduate students, and academic racial justice initiatives.

Adriana is originally from Venezuela and grew up in Urbana-Champaign, IL, before moving to St. Louis, MO where she received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Sociology and a Master of Athletic Training from Saint Louis University. She received her Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health and Epidemiology from Boston University
