Why wellness is important to me: As a nontraditional student who came to medicine late, I was nervous when I chose this field that medicine would take over my life and I would lose all the other things that were so important to me. I couldn’t wait for “physician” to be part of my identity, but I didn’t want it to become my only descriptor. So throughout medical school I have thought really consciously about boundaries and balance and made time for friends and family, hobbies, and therapy.

Why I'm on the committee: I joined the Wellness Committee because I wanted to encourage the classmates I respect and admire so deeply to get in the habit of prioritizing their own wellness early, so that those habits are already in place as we progress into harder and harder aspects of our careers. I wanted to provide opportunities to escape from the stressors of medical school and tools to support healthy balance and self-care. After all, we need to be healthy and well ourselves to be able to provide the best care to our future patients. I love the Wellness Committee and I love Pritzker!

Fun Fact: I lived in Buenos Aires for a year after graduating college.
