Planning Your Interview Day

Request Hosting

Student Host Request Form

We are looking forward to welcoming you to campus for your interview day! If you are an MD applicant and would like to request a student host, please fill out the form above, and our Student Hosting Coordinators will match you with a host. We will make every effort to find a student host for those who request them, but may not always be able to. You will receive a confirmation email once the hosting coordinators have received your request. This is not an automatic email, so it may take several days to hear back. MSTP applicants have alternate accommodations and should not request a host through the form above.

Please note: We will generally inform you about hosting arrangements about a week before your interview date, but depending on host availability and student schedules, you may hear about your host only a few days in advance. If you would feel more comfortable, you can also make a back up reservation at the lodging accommodations below.

Please contact pritzkerhosting@gmail.com with any questions about the hosting program, and our Student Hosting Coordinators will get back to you as soon as possible.

MSTP Interview Schedule

Monday Evening: Dinner with MSTP Students

Tuesday: MD Interview Day

During the MD interview day, applicants will attend a breakfast hosted by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, attend a presentation about the MD years of their training, and interview with one faculty member, one student, and one member of the Pritzker School of Medicine administration. The MSTP will host a dinner after the interview day has concluded.

Wednesday: MSTP Interview Day

Day two begins with breakfast and a presentation by Program Director Dr. Marcus Clark. You will then have up to six interviews with members of UChicago's research faculty and MSTP Leadership.

Travel Arrangements and Accommodations

The MSTP will reimburse you for travel arrangements up to $350, and hotel accommodations are arranged and provided by the MSTP. Shanetha Thomas, Administrative Director of Admissions and Student Programs, will follow up shortly with additional information about your interview schedule.

Flying to Chicago

If you choose to fly to Chicago for your visit, there are two major commercial airports in the Chicago area: O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport.

Midway International Airport is approximately eight miles west of the University of Chicago campus. Midway is easily accessible from our campus by public transportation, car, shuttle, and taxi/rideshare. Please note that Southwest flights only go through Midway airport and you will need to check for flights on the Southwest website directly, as they will not appear in other travel search websites.

O’Hare International Airport is approximately 25 miles northwest of campus and is also accessible from our campus by public transportation, shuttle, car, and taxi.

Public Transit

Chicago has one of the best public transit systems in the country. To use public transit during your visit, we recommend purchasing a Ventra card (available at airport CTA stations). Ventra cards can be used for both the bus and the "L"-- our nickname for the city's elevated trains.

From Midway Airport, visitors can take the CTA #55 bus directly to our campus in Hyde Park, which takes about 50 minutes.

From O’Hare, visitors can take the Blue Line to the Loop and transfer at the Jackson Blue Line stop to the #6 or #2 bus to Hyde Park (both run express, but the 2 bus is only active during AM and PM rush hours). Given the distance, visitors are encouraged to allot an hour and 45 minutes to two hours of travel time for reaching Hyde Park from O’Hare via public transportation.

Taxis and Rideshares

If you wish to take a taxi from either airport to our campus, simply follow the signs at the airport to the taxi stand. A taxi from O’Hare will cost approximately $50–60, and from Midway the fare will be approximately $30. Rideshares (especially pooling) can be slightly cheaper. From Midway, taxis/rideshares only take about 20-25 minutes to get directly to campus. Rides from O’Hare to Hyde Park can take anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour and a half depending on traffic. We strongly recommend using the Blue Line to get to O'Hare to avoid crowded interstates.

Driving to Chicago

Our street address is 924 E. 57th Street, Chicago, IL 60637.

Parking

If you will be driving to campus, we are happy to provide a parking pass. Please park in the Medical Campus Parking B garage, located at 5656 S. Maryland Ave. From this garage, walk east on 57th Street to get to the Pritzker School of Medicine, which will be on your left. Keep your parking ticket, and we will provide you with an additional validation ticket at the end of your interview day, which will allow you to exit the garage.
