Hello and welcome (or welcome back) to Pritzker! We are so excited that the incoming Pritzker Class of 2021 is joining the Pritzker family and cannot wait to start another amazing year with four classes full of beautiful, interesting people.
We have the privilege of serving as your Pritzker Chiefs this year. We are three fourth-year students who are the bridge between the student body and the administration, while also coordinating mentoring and social activities throughout the year for each of the classes. This means we work with Peer Mentorship at Pritzker, our Identity and Inclusion committee, and the Pritzker Sibs Program to help everyone make the most of their time here. We also serve as your peer ombudspersons and are always here to address any questions or concerns you may have.
Colleen, Eric, and Sam
We cannot wait to get to know each of you better! As way of introduction, here is a little bit about each of us:
Colleen Kelly: Hello all! My name is Colleen and I am thrilled to welcome you to Pritzker! I grew up in Western Springs, a western suburb of Chicago, before attending the University of Notre Dame, where I majored in economics. Prior to medical school, I worked as a management consultant and policy analyst in Chicago and D.C. and then completed a post-bacc at Goucher College. I have loved my time at Pritzker, especially getting to know fellow classmates, professors, and staff, and cannot wait to get to know all of you! I have also loved living in Chicago. Some of my favorite things to do include running along the lake, checking out restaurants, exploring different neighborhoods, and going to baseball games. Feel free to contact us whenever if there is anything you need!
Eric Whitney: Hey guys! Welcome to the Pritzker family. My name is Eric and I grew up in Barrington, a suburb about an hour northwest of Chicago (it’s close to the IKEA). I attended Stanford University for college and studied human biology, after which I taught first grade as a TFA corps member in Brooklyn for two years. I also completed a post-bacc year at Northwestern and a year of lab work at Columbia before arriving at Pritzker. Three of my favorite things in Chicago are swimming at Promontory Point in the summer, reading in Hyde Park’s many bookstores (Powell’s and the Seminary Co-Op are amazing!), and exploring Chicago’s different neighborhoods. If there is anything you need, feel free to reach out!
Sam Loren: Welcome to Pritzker, friends! We are all so excited to have a chance to meet you. My name is Sam, and I’m from just north of Portland, Maine (a place I’ll talk about for a very long time if you don’t cut me off). I attended Harvard for undergrad and majored in evolutionary biology (mostly bird watching and bug catching), before spending a couple years working in pediatric quality measure research and subsequently coming to Pritzker. Chicago’s an amazing city, filled with beautiful public spaces, delicious food, and great music (don’t listen to the naysayers—you’re never too old for Lollapalooza), and we’re looking forward to a year of sharing that with Pritzker students new and old. Never hesitate to say hello!
Please reach out to any or all of us whenever you think we could be of help or you just need someone to bounce an idea off of! We’re looking forward to another action-packed year at Pritzker, and hope to see you all at weekly Social Rounds, Field Day, society events, and whatever other fun things you (or we) decide to create. You’ll hear from us in our weekly TWAP (This Week At Pritzker) emails, over dinner, and over doughnuts bright and early, but know that we’re here for you any time you need.
Brace yourself; this is going to be great.
Colleen Kelly, Sam Loren, and Eric Whitney
