Medical Education RFAs

The Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators and Pritzker School of Medicine makes research funding available to support research in medical education across the continuum. Total funding for projects should not exceed $25,000 equally shared between the grantee's department and the Dean for Medical Education (up to $12,500 from each source, with documentation of anticipated support from the department chairman).

We are especially interested in receiving proposals related to the following themes but welcome proposals in other areas as well:

  • Innovations at the UME-GME transition or Phase Three (final year of the medical school curriculum)  
  • Creating an inclusive learning climate in the clinical learning environment 
  • New and emerging topics in medical education such as use of AI, big data, or climate health 
  • Simulation scholarship across the continuum of medical education 

2024-2025 Application Process

The RFA for the 2024-2025 will open on February 12th, 2024. Proposals are due by March 18th with anticipated start of funding July 1st, 2024.

    Past Grantees

    These awards are part of an ongoing series of initiatives to foster research, innovation, and scholarship in medical education and to promote and sustain a strong culture of teaching throughout the medical school and in our graduate medical education programs. Since the medical education grants' inception in 2006, the grants have laid the foundation for curricular innovations within the medical school and graduate medical education programs. All grantees present a poster presentation of their medical education research project at the annual Medical Education Day.
