Maria Shelter Free Clinic Volunteer Information
The Maria Shelter Free Clinic is a collaborative effort between the Pritzker School of Medicine and Margaret's Village to deliver immediate care to the women experiencing homelessness at the Maria Shelter. Our mission is to provide trauma-responsive care to treat urgent clinical needs and connect our patients to quality, long-term care. We look forward to seeing you at clinic!

Clinic Details
- Clinic Address: Englewood (Address will be provided in the clinic volunteer email sent prior to your shift)
- Clinic Hours: Wednesday evenings, 5-9pm (Faculty arrive at 6pm)
- Clinical Services: We offer primary and psychiatric care on an alternating schedule. Pediatric care is also offered if a Family Medicine physician is present.
- Patient Population: 2-6 patients per clinic night. The clinic serves women and their children who are currently experiencing homelessness and living at the Maria Shelter.
- Electronic Health Record - PracticeFusion: The clinic utilizes PracticeFusion to document all patient encounters.
- Attire: Dress in scrubs or business casual/professional attire. Please be advised that it is quite warm in clinic. Layers are encouraged!
- Parking Information: There is parking available in a small lot adjacent to the building and on the street. Please see photos below for more detailed information.
Clinic Workflow
- First, a team of medical students (one first-year student and one fourth-year student) will see the patient and complete a comprehensive medical history and physical exam.
- Next, the medical student team will present to the attending physician and discuss a plan.
- Following discussion, the physician will enter the patient room with the medical student team for assessment and further discussion.
- If medications or referrals are needed, the Maria Shelter Board Members will coordinate the items needed for the patient.
