Student Life

Pre-Clinical Advising

Recognizing students’ need for robust guidance throughout the first two years of medical school, the Pritzker School of Medicine has developed resources to support MS1 and MS2 students. These resources take into consideration each preclinical student’s progress related to scholarly pursuits, career exploration, leadership development, and professionalism.

The Preclinical Advising Program includes:

  • Resources to help students connect with faculty members so that they can engage in meaningful shadowing experiences
  • One on one meetings with Career Advisors
  • Multiple Career Exploration Seminars throughout the year and access to previously recorded events. Seminars cover a range of topics including shadowing, professionalism, and history of the South Side of Chicago. These one-hour sessions also feature faculty physicians from across specialties to help students explore their career interests.
  • A digital resource hub with centralized access to resources and information for career exploration and experiential development. Visit the Pre-Clinical Canvas page (log in required).
  • Access to information regarding learning opportunities available at the University level.

The Pritzker School of Medicine also supports student-led peer mentorship programs, including Peer Mentoring at Pritzker (PMAP) and peer advising within the four Advising Societies.
