Clinic Workflow

  1. On a typical clinic day, medical student volunteers will room the patient, collect vitals, and conduct the history of present illness interview and collect the patient’s medical history. The medical student will then leave the exam room to present this information to you. At this point you can ask any follow-up questions and work with the medical students to develop a care plan.

  2. After this, you will then meet the patient with the medical student volunteers to complete the encounter. Our medical student volunteers will make sure that the patient has everything that they need during our check out process.

  3. After patient discharge, students will complete a note in our electronic health record that we will ask you to review and sign off on.

After Clinic
After our last appointment, we will have a short team debrief to go over summarized statements of chief complaint, diagnosis, and treatment for each patient. We also hope to use this time to discuss what went well and what could be improved on with the rest of the team. You are free to leave after this meeting!
