Raina Merchant, MD'03, has been named an Associate Vice President for the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Director of the newly created Penn Medicine Center for Digital Health. Dr. Merchant has already engaged in interdisciplinary research with Penn's business, law, and engineering schools, culling and arranging social media data to assess and even predict social determinants of health, and in her new position, she will be able to use these methods to impact patient care.
