A Warm Welcome from the Pritzker Chiefs

We are excited to begin a new school year here at Pritzker! We welcome the new members of the Class of 2020, and are happy to see returning members of the medical school community around campus. As first-years prepare to acclimate themselves to anatomy and Health Care Disparities: Equity and Advocacy, the second-years will soon be exploring the mysteries of the mind in neurobiology and the miracles of modern pharmacology as they look ahead to CPP&T. The third-years are working their way through clerkship experiences in Hyde Park, Evanston, and various points in between, while the fourth-years are busy rotating through various hospitals, getting ready for the interview trail, and engaging with their peers and professors in electives.

The three of us are thrilled to be serving as your Pritzker Chiefs. We serve as liaisons between the student body, faculty, administrators, and the alumni council. We also work extensively with the Peer Mentorship at Pritzker (PMAP), the Pritzker Sibs Program, and the newly formed Identity and Inclusion (I2I) committee on efforts to enhance wellness and equity initiatives at the school. We fill roles as peer ombudsmen, update the community on exciting events each week through our TWAP (“This Week at Pritzker”) e-mails, and host periodic coffee and donut breaks and dinners. We also spend time in the classroom working with Holly Humphrey, MD’83 on Pritzker Morning Report, a case-based course that is open to fourth-years (and curious students in the pre-clinical years).

We look forward to seeing you at fun community events like Field Day, Beat the Blues, Senior Skit, and weekly Social Rounds, but we are also eager to hear from you about new programs that could be added to the Pritzker calendar. In fact, please feel comfortable contacting us at any time; we know that medical school often coincides with momentous changes in your personal lives and in the world around us, so feel free to reach out to us if you need to chat—we are here to help.

With that, we look forward to another amazing year at the University of Chicago. Have fun!

Your Pritzker Chiefs,

Oluseyi “Seyi” Fayanju, Christopher “Chris” Mattson, and Maryam Mohammed
