Why wellness is important to me: Throughout my student life, I’ve had to learn the importance of prioritizing wellbeing every single day, rather than only focusing on “productivity”. Balance - whether that is going for a run, seeing a movie with a friend, or cooking a nice meal for yourself - is so important for our mental health as med students! I also have found that I tend to be a better friend, partner, daughter, sister, and classmate when I am making time for the activities that bring me joy and relaxation.
Why I’m on the committee: I am on the wellness committee because I hope to be an uplifting and positive reminder to my classmates to prioritize their emotional, physical, and spiritual health. I am so excited to plan fun and relaxing events for my peers so that they can de-stress and connect with one another despite the often high-stress environment of medical school. Most importantly, I hope to promote a culture at Pritzker that de-stigmatizes mental health and prioritizes students’ wellbeing.
Fun fact: I lived in London before starting medical school (and still have a horrible fake British accent).
